This is the latest wine from the excellent Bedoba Estate in the eastern part of Georgia. The winery itself has some history dating back to 1737.
This is a blend of the two indigenous white grapes Rkatsiteli 70% and Kisi 30% (great names) the first lot of grapes come from 25 year old vines on balt slate soils and the Kisi grapes are from youngest vines planted in the cooler hills on limestone soils.
Fermentation takes place in both Qvervi ( these big large clay amphora that are dug underground) and Stainless steel vats. The final blend sees the wine spend 6 months in 2nd and 3rd fill French oak barrels. The wine offers lovely white floral honeycomb notes (Chenin blanc etc.) with a waft of toasty oak very much in the background but add structure. Really interesting and exciting wine. Practicing organic and biodynamics. 13.5% vol.
