The Benanti winery was established in 1988 but the family have been producing wines for generations for their own consumption.
Grown on various slopes around Mount Etna, with their volcanic soils, exposure to the sun and proximity to the sea, it provides a unique growing opportunity and style of wines.
Indigenous grape varieties: Nerello Mascalese (80%) and Nerello Capuccio (20%).
With vibrant red fruits, I was really impressed by the freshness from acidity, not heavy or clumsy in anyway but great purity in their wines, both red and white. A hint of spice and minerality, earthy notes, the wine has had 8 months in oak barrels.
