Henschke Johann’s Garden Barossa Valley 2018

£39.95

I have to admit there have been few highlights of 2020 worth jumping for joy with. However, there was a particular day when we were kindly invited to join in a virtual tasting of wines from Henschke, with samples provided. The only snag (which we managed to overcome quite quickly) is that it was 9.30am UK time tasting wines with Stephen and Prue Henschke in Barossa at 7.30pm!

We have listed their Keyneton Euphonium wine for many years now (named after the original owners of the vineyard and the Euphonium add as they all played in the Brass Band).

Here the Johann’s also named after the original vineyards owner and a blend of Grenache and Mourvedre 70%/25% and 5% Shiraz.

All farmed organically.

Deep crimson in colour with purple hues. Incredibly fragrant aromas of raspberry, dark plum, spicy blueberry and redcurrant are complemented by notes of mace, nutmeg, white pepper and musk. The rich and intense palate shows excellent structure and complexity, bursting with wild berry and dark plum, entwined with an array of dried spices. Layers of firm yet silky tannins provide exceptional length. 14.5% vol.
