One of the first wines we listed when Vin Neuf was but an infant! Many years on and over time I am sorry to say that this has dropped off our radar… possibly due to the demand for the ‘P word’, Prosecco. However, no more… it’s back and rightly so!
Jean Louis Denois originated from Burgundy. Some time ago he set up in Limoux and makes some excellent sparkling wines in the Traditional Method. Whilst Champagne claims to be the leader in production of sparkling wines, it was some 100 years earlier (1531) when Sparkling Limoux was being produced!
This is a blend of Pinot Noir & Chardonnay. The vineyards are located approx. 500 metres above sea level, which maintains the good acidity. Lovely rich toasty notes, fine persistent bubbles ensures one glass leads nicely onto the next. As I always say, it’s worth spending money on decent traditional method sparkling wines, rather than cheap discounted Champagne. No true a case in point! 12 % vol.
