This Château takes its name from a hill in Saint Estephe, facing in the Gironde estuary in the heart of Bordeaux. This is the ‘second wine’ of the classified 2nd growth but does not lack any style or polish and with now a few years under its belt in terms of ageing it is reaching its stride.
‘La Dame de Montrose was created in 1983 by Jean-Louis Charmolüe, in tribute to the courage, boldness,and perseverance of his mother, Yvonne Charmolüe. A woman of remarkable resolve, she assumed sole responsibility for the destiny of the estate after the death of her husband.’
Made from 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45 %Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc.
Ripe red berried notes add lift and a measure of elegance to the dark-fleshed fruit. Medium in body, with good depth and fine overall balance. 13.5% vol.
