February is here and Valentine's is looming!

With dry January now a distant past, we can now truly get this year kick started!

Despite the continued daily economic challenges that we all have, here at Vin Neuf we still believe we have some exciting wines to offer all tastebuds and price points. Mindful that we’d be lying if we haven’t seen significant price increases, we nevertheless still have a great range of wines from £8 – £20 a bottle – which accounts for our main portfolio of wines that we sell through our shop and online.

As ever at this time of year, Jonathan and I are busy attending various trade tastings the length and breadth of the country. Here we try the latest tank samples of the new vintages awaiting bottling later this month. With many new wines from around the world, our own selection of these will then slowly but surely find a place on our shelves over the coming months. We will of course duly keep you posted about these new arrivals!

So you’re aware and from what we’ve tasted thus far, there are some real crackers from coming from southern France, central and southern Spain and also from South Africa.

Do also keep a look out for our forthcoming tastings where you hopefully will get to sample some of these new wines. Please note we’ve now announced our rescheduled wine tasting nights booked at Bobby’s on the Greenway during March and in April.

Our vertical wine tasting flight of Australian Chardonnay sold out within just over an hour of releasing them (Beyoncé style!), so do please book tastings early. We’ll hold another one of these vertical tastings later in the year dedicated to New Zealand Riesling.

Looking back at last year’s February blog, I really do have to be careful things don’t repeat themselves in the sporting world; as the rugby six nations kicks off this weekend and Barnaby and I our lucky enough to be heading to Cardiff, we can only hope for a better outcome than our last 6 nations. So whichever team you support. wishing you all a happy time watching some hopefully exciting rugby matches over the next 6 weeks or so.

Lastly, if you’ve not already picked up a bottle of our current wine of the month from Cave de Roquebrun their Col de L’Orb (£12.95), I suggest you hurry!  We enjoyed a couple of bottles the other night with Livs homemade chilli con carne, whilst celebrating my Father in law’s birthday… and it’s wonderful!

So with Valentine’s night approaching this might be the wine for you!

Even if not, please do pop into the shop and we would be delighted to help with any wine and food pairings that you might be attempting to woo your partner with come 14th February!

Santé!
