Château Maucoil’s vineyards are located in the far northwest of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape area. What’s unusual in that they have a lot of sand, so the soils are well drained and have fresher aromatics than the wines grown on the pebbley ‘caillou’ soils. Here the average age of the vines are 40 years old, producing excellent intense ripe fruits, naturally low yielding.
The organically-grown grapes, offer a very deeply-coloured red, aromas of blackberries, dried fruit and dark roast coffee on the nose. Typically lifted and fresh despite its full body and intense colour, the palate has plush berry fruit, subtle savoury spice and pleasantly grippy yet ripe tannins with a very long finish. 15% vol.
