Domaine la Font de Notre Dame, Rasteau

A classic southern rhone blend with my favoruite usual suspects GSM and a dash of cinsault. The village of Rasteau gained cru status in 2010, (up one notch from a ‘Cotes du Rhone-villages’) but is still often over shadowed by its more infamous neighbour to the west,  the village of Cairanne. That, however means these wines can often prove an absolute bargain!

A rich and complex wine; the palate is brimming with ripe red summer fruits from Grenache, while Syrah brings a touch of peppery spice and Mourvèdre a savoury herbal twist.
