Domaine Mas Barrau, Cabernet Franc BIO, pays du Gard 2023

It is not often you come across a wine that is technically way out of its comfort zone – and by that I mean that most Cabernet Franc plantings are found in either Bordeaux or Loire valley, not down here in the heat and warmth of the med just south of Nimes. However, here we are and this is a real surprise! So much so, we had to go back to tasting this several times to confirm what we were sampling, as it punches well above its weight in value.

Guilluam & Samantha have made a cracking wine here, with the grapes from a small family producer. Dark brambly fruits, touch of spice and soft approachable tannins. Certified organic. 12.5% vol.
