Mr. Wharnby kindly came and showed us this in the summer and having tasted in London in February it was ideal to be able to take time and revisit this wine and focus. We should have bought it from the start- but Jonathan and I were not sure if we could sell 3 Vouvrays at over £25 mark. However, thankfully we have been proved wrong!
This wine is made from a Solera system (like sherry casks) where the wine is a blend of several vintages and they keep topping up the barrels from the latest vintages. This has over 3 vintages 2018, 2019, 2020. Off-dry style with residual sugar of 22 grams/litre but has good acidity to maintain the freshness and persitence of this wine. Rich oily characters with fresh apples and white plum notes. Drink with a lovely belly of pork and leek dish, or with a mature Gouda cheese.
