Made from 3 key Portuguese grapes, Alicante Bousquet (sounds sexier than it is) it is one of a few grapes that’s pulp is actually red, so produces inky purple colour wines; Touriga Nacional and Aragonez (Tempranillo). Named after the Iberian black pig found in the Alentejo region of southern Portugal.
Dark fruits and spices, medium bodied, not as full as you would expect, nicely restrained/balanced. Aged for 6 months in oak barrels gives a lovely rounded finish.
