La Mécanique du Vin, Orange Wine, 2023

Well we have gone from listing one orange wine to now 4… so progress we hope! In truth, whilst there has been a lot of hype (generally from cool hipsters, of which I am definitely not) about orange wines these past few years. From what we have tasted thus far, nothing really wowed us enough to list them… well, until now!

So, it’s made from 4 different wine grapes (not oranges!), Grenache blanc, Viognier, Rolle, Muscat. However, some of the grapes are left in contact with theirs skins for several hours which gives the wines this natural hue/colour of ‘oranges’ or pale rosé like colour, the palate has therefore some texture to the wine, in which it gives more weight/depth at the same time vibrant white floral notes, with good refreshing acidity and 13% vol.
