May News

We have had an amazing end of April and start of May blessed with glorious sunshine all week and perfect timing for the arrival of our first Domaine Montrose Rosé shipment of the summer.

The rosé season is now arriving, and they are looking glorious, we have lots to tempt you with, from £9 – £25.

Some highlights being, Pasion de Bobal Organic Rosé from Spain for £12.95, the Cotes de Thau Rosé (the one bottle that won’t fit on our shelves) is now on offer with £1.00 off and now at only £11.95. Also the gorgeous Domaine Montrose Rosé £14.95 and their Prestige Rosé £16.95. Further to this we have a new listing from the wonderful people at Wildeberg in South Africa, with their Coterie by Wildeberg Rosé.

For more rosé treats we have 3 stunners, from Domaine Rimauresq Cotes de Provence £23.50, Tenuta Sella ‘Majoli’ Rosé (made from Nebbiolo) in Piedmont, Italy at £19.50 and finally Domaine des Pre Semele Sancerre Rosé at £24.00.

We are delighted to see the return of Tiko Estate wines from Georgia and their new offering of Tiko Estate Solo, a lighter fresher style of the Sapravi grape variety at £16.50, a new red from producer Caudio Mariotto, in Colli Tortonesi, northern Italy. Made from the local grape variety ‘Freisa’, it produces a deep red colour with intense garnet, an elegant and delicate nose of raspberry, morello cherry, slightly floral. This develops into a fresh and vibrant palate, with a persistent finish.

Also, this month sees a welcome return of some of our cracking South African wines, from the Lemberg Estate in Tulbagh, we have the Lady (a wonderful white blend of Harselvelu, Viognier, et al) and their Spencer Pinotage.

Our wine of the month is Darling Cellars SMG (Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache) at £11.95 and we also have their Vergelegen Reserve Chardonnay and Rosé.

From Jonathan’s tastings earlier in the year he found Cavalli Estate and we have several of their wines arriving as well: their unoaked Chenin Blanc, Reserve White Blend (Chenin, Verdelho, Viognier, Chardonnay) and a Shiraz. This stunning estate encompasses 100 hectares. Of this, 26 hectares are vineyards, along with areas of indigenous gardens, a world class equestrian facility, fine dining areas, art gallery, boutique and cellar door… what’s not too like!

We have been lucky enough to have been visited by many winemakers over the last few weeks and some stand outs being, Leopold Haas-Allram from Allram Estate and on the same day and from the same village of Strass in Austria, Andreas Frank from Weingut Weixelbaum and just yesterday, Charlie O’Brian from Silent Noise in Australia.

Do keep an eye out for these wines arriving in the coming weeks.

Santé!
